Last year, we decided to adopt some needy Jamaicans in a Christmas Angel program. This is in addition to the annual Christmas Treat organized by Audrey in conjunction with the Port Morant Methodist Church, but mostly funded by us. Audrey helps us purchase small gifts for the elderly who cannot get out ("shut ins") and the children. As a regular part of Christmas Treat, the "shut ins" receive a nice gift and a bag containing items such as rice, flour, oil, sugar, soap, and a washcloth. Because of the Christmas Angel program, we were able to expand the giving by purchasing backpacks, books, pencils, shoes, pants, shirts, blouses, curtains, bedsheets, and other items.
In the photos above, you will see some of the elderly who were served. The lady in the upper left, a victim of a stroke, was most appreciative. She said even her own church did nothing for her, but we were helping her. We pray that God will help us to remain in the business of helping the forgotten.
