Lyssons Special Education School Plans / Needs:
Long Term Needs / Dreams:
1. Build and staff a Vocational Skills Center
2. Micro enterprise development to support Center
3. Involve the parents as a way to increase support and an opportunity for ministry
Medium Term:
1. Help with skills training
2. Get things like sewing machines, stove, desks, chairs
3. Help with breakfast arrangements - a cook, etc.
4. Computer / training equipment
5. Take educators to work with students and teachers
Short Term:
1. Work on smaller and less costly items on list below
2. Financial support
3. Get special education teachers / teachers involved
What you can do:
1. Pray - pray for the children, the teachers, and those of us trying to help
2. Volunteer to get more involved - help plan, assess needs, go on a trip
3. Help us obtain things on needs list below
4. Financial contributions
Things to send or take to Jamaica:
1. Sewing machine - to teach sewing
2. Computer?
Things that can be purchased there - so need money:
1. An ironing board
2. A door for the classroom
3. Blank tapes
4. Filing cabinet (Items 1-5 = $200 US)
5. Curtain rods and curtains - $80 US
6. A stove to cook breakfast - $400-500 U.S.
On going support:
1. Money to purchase food for breakfast
2. Money to pay someone to help prepare breakfast (probably about $5 -10 per day)
